I often use Siri to file away ideas for this weblog.
I’ll use a voice command to remind me to write about a thing, often while driving, cooking, and half-asleep. Not all at the same time. That would be a pretty sick talent, though.
That’s how you get compelling posts like “This vehicle’s speed is monitored by GPS.” I see something, a dumb thought pops into my head, and I invoke Siri. “Remind me about this vehicle’s speed monitored by GPS tonight at 5:30.”
This morning, I got a 5am reminder: “The nail dictators.” Siri butchered whatever brilliant thought was in my brain. I remember telling Siri last night to remind me to write about ______ dictators. But I don’t remember what prompted it, or what that blank might actually be.
The nail dictators? I don’t think so.
The mail dictators? Nah.
Female dictators? Nope. I’m fairly certain I wasn’t thinking about Kim Jong Un’s daughter, North Korea’s dictator-in-waiting.
Siri gets it correct often enough that I’m not compelled to switch. It’s easy, and I’m entrenched in Apple products.
So I curse at it, instead. It refuses to engage in a verbal battle.
Good choice, as I would win.
