Someone fix this

Is it really that hard to make severe weather look tolerable on a widescreen TV? I shouldn’t lose 50 percent of my screen to thunderstorms.

Fox 4, consider yourself “4WARNED!”

  1. Wow, that’s pathetic. I’ve also noticed that any pertinent images are never located to the corner in HD, but still within the margin of the old 4:3 aspect ratio.

I guess I always assumed this was so anybody watching on an old skewl TV with a converter box or whatever won’t have their little weather map or network icon cut off the screen.

Once again, old folks and the poor are holding everyone else back. We’re never going to achieve utopia at this rate.

    • I expect broadcast programmers to be smart enough to find a way to provide severe weather coverage that doesn’t totally defecate on the programming, regardless of what type of set is viewing the content. Luckily, I watch TV through my Mac, so I was able to zoom to the letterboxed content.

Side note: Coverage of severe thunderstorms, in particular, is always overblown.
