The Bogeyman

Why is it spelled that way?

And the alternate spellings are no better:

The bogeyman, also boogeyman, boogyman, or bogyman, is a ghost-like monster that children often believe is real.

“Boogieman” is more like it.

And children “often” believe he is real? Isn’t that saying the majority of children think he’s real?

As Stossel would say, “Give me a break!”

Disclaimer: Mattstooks.com is not making the assertion that John Stossel is indeed the Boogieman…though his stash is definitely hiding something.

  1. I before E, after G, when spelling BOOGIE….MAN. That’s how I always spelled it out.

There is much more to John Stossel than meets the eye.

  2. Rumor has it that Stossel’s moustache hides one of the seven gateways to hell. According to the myth that I heard as a younger man, there is actually an entrance to the underworld between Stossel’s nose and upper lip. I don’t know if it’s true, but Elizabeth Vargas always seems to lean away from him when they sit at the same news desk.
